Leave people better than you found them. I love this matter of fact way of teaching our children to think about one another as real, individual people. I ran across this talk from Marvin J. Ashton given in an LDS General Conference years ago. It was such a good and timely read and I knew I had to make a free printable with my favorite quote. It’s perfect for back to school time, but is a great reminder for any time of the year.
“Be one who nurtures and who builds. Be one who has an understanding and a forgiving heart, who looks for the best in people. Leave people better than you found them.”
In just a few sentences, he managed to sum up what I hope for my children each year I send them back to school. I hope you find a way to display this quote that works for your family.
