On Monday, my family had the opportunity to serve

On Monday, my family had the opportunity to serve at the temple open house! We saw dear friends and welcomed hundreds of people during our time there. While it feels like being rude is normal now, it was beautiful to say hello and help countless people who, as soon as I smiled and said hello, were friendly back. People who knew little of our faith and have never visited a temple were respectful and peaceful. I can't tell you how much I appreciated seeing so many people genuinely interested to learn more about this holy place I love.

The temple workers who have been there for the whole open house said there have been hundreds of thousands of visitors. I love that we were a little part of this special event. My sister was just telling me how when the temple was first built in the 1970s, our dad was a tour guide and our parents made sure they (before I was born) were one of the first families to be sealed together forever there. My husband and I are celebrating our 19th anniversary this month of being married for eternity there, too. It was special to think about that on Monday and to look at our teenagers serving and see the beautiful family we've made together. It was a long day and everyone still got up and went to work and school. They're pretty great. ❤

This is the last week of the temple open house! When I checked yesterday, there were still (free) parking passes available at dctemple.org if you want to go tour the temple!
